Justin Timberlake is too cool for himself these days.  It’s weird.  He didn’t say he was retiring, but he didn’t say he was going to make music any time soon either.

His most recent CD is 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds.  Since the release, the only music Justin has been working on is for other people.  He’s been producing everything from music to TV…just not for himself.  In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the singer says:

“Right now, I like the idea that things can just kind of pop up and if they feel right I can do them. Committing to my own sort of project, that’s like, ‘Okay, let me block out two years of my life and do it.’ I was heavily fulfilled with the last one and I always have this thing with myself that if I can’t sleep because I need to do it, then I’m gonna do it. But if I’m not losing sleep over it then…”

But he does say that he will one day record another album.  He even says he wants to throw a more rock vibe into his usual R&B sounds.  He says:

“been going back and forth between Kings of Leon’s latest album and the Black Keys. I really love their Attack and Release. I thought that was a really great record. And of course Radiohead. It’s a constant. I enjoy In Rainbows in the morning.”

Kanye using auto tune.  Chris Cornell using R&B.  Justin using rock.  Some areas should just not be touched, however, I’m interested in seeing what the fuck he comes up with since he always manages to have a hit regardless.  That or he can just take his shirt off and that’s good enough for me.
